Hotels in Paris

Paris is packed with hotels, but it’s not so easy to pick the right one.
As a real Parisian with friends from everywhere in the world, I have lots of feedbacks, so I’ll share here the best places I’ve been aware of lately.
Ihope it’ll help you finding an answer to this key-question : which hotel offers best value for money in a nice area in paris?

Best moment in your Parisian hotel: breakfast time !

Hotels in Paris center “Rive Droite” (right bank of river Seine), 1rst, 2nd, 3rd and 4rth arrondissements:

Hôtel Thérèse: this hotel is in the 1st arrondissement, close to Palais Royal and the Louvre, surrounded by historical charm. Quiet, comfortable rooms; you don’t feel cramped even in the bathrooms! A great pick if you’re planning to spend time in and around the Louvre, jardin des Tuileries and Champs Elysées. Check details, photos and availabilities for hotel Thérèse here…

Hôtel Le Relais des Halles: situated in the 1st arrondissement, this hotel is in a fantastic location near the Louvre and the charming streets of Le Marais. Impossible to be more central. A good bet if you want to use transports a lot to discover Paris. And so many restaurants in the neighbourhood! Check details, photos and availabilities for hotel Le Relais des Halles here…

Le 123 Sébastopol – Astotel: in the 2nd arrondissement, this area is great for exploring local bistros and is close to the vibrant Le Marais district. Perfect for those who love nightlife. Check details, photos and availabilities for 123 Sébastopol Astotel here…

Hotels in Northern Paris (Montmartre and South Pigalle, 18th and 9th arrondissements) and Eastern Paris (République and Bastille, 10th and 11th arrondissements):

Hotel Maison Mère: in a very nice and lively part of Paris (9th arrondissement) with many great bistros and restaurants. This neighbourhood is one of the favourite area for dining out for parisians. Close to Montmartre to the North and Opera + Grands Boulevards to the South. Check details, photos and availabilities for hotel Henriette here…

Hôtel Joke – Astotel: not a joke! Good location in the 9th arrondissement, close to Montmartre. It’s a vibrant area with lots of character, known for its artistic history. Pleasant and very handy since metro Blanche is very close and metro Trinité-d’Estienne-d’Orves is not far. Check details, photos and availabilities for hotel Joke – Astotel here…

Hôtel Fabric: found in the 11th arrondissement, this area is known for its trendy cafes and vibrant nightlife, offering a more contemporary side of Paris. And a good way to experiment the true Paris as Parisians live it. Lots of nice small restaurants and great bakeries and shops in the neighbourhood. Check details, photos and availabilities for hotel Fabric here…

Hôtel La Nouvelle République: located in the trendy 11th arrondissement, it’s in a vibrant area with many bars and restaurants. Adorable hotel with a warm, cosy atmosphere in a very quiet street close to the metro and numerous restaurants… Very neat and original decor, unique and interesting furnishings, far from standard, perfectly designed light fittings (very important for the ambiance!). Impeccable cleanliness and top-quality bedding. You feel like you’re in an ultra-comfortable country house, especially in the “vinyl room” where you can listen to “real records”. A must for a very Parisian experience. Check details, photos and availabilities for hotel La Nouvelle République here…

Hotels in Central + Southern Paris “Rive Gauche” (left bank of River Seine), Saint Germain des Prés and Luxembourg (6th arrondissement), Montparnasse (14 arrondissement) Invalides and Eiffel Tower (7th) and South Paris (15th and 13th):

Hôtel Léopold: very well located in the heart of Montparnasse area (14th arrondissement), a very nice and calm hotel. Very pretty decoration and a warm atmosphere. The welcome is top-notch, with friendly and dedicated staff throughout the stay. Nice little touches upon arrival (delicious snacks and personalized message). Breakfast is served as a very varied buffet with very good products. I recommend (and it’s in my favourite Paris area: Montparnasse, and where I live). Hôtel Henriette: situated in the 13th arrondissement but very close to beautiful 5th. A bit off the beaten path but offers a peaceful retreat with a very local feel. Wonderful patio, nice staff, great decoration. Many friends loved it! And close to rue Mouffetard‘s shops and restaurants. Check details, photos and availabilities for hotel Henriette here…

Hotels near Champs Elysées (8th arrondissement):

Like many Parisians, I’m not fond of Champs-Élysées where you will find almost only hotels, airbnb flats and offices. This area is noisy, without much charm and expensive for everything. I worked there for a few years and it was so difficult finding a decent and affortable restaurant: most of them were tourist traps. So no Parisian goes there apart for work meetings and exhibitions in Grand Palais.

Anyway, there are some high gastronomy restaurants, luxury shops and nice hotels in the area, but always very expensive. So I picked the only hotel that friends recommended me…

Hôtel Ekta: near the Champs-Élysées in the 8th arrondissement, this is perfect for those who love luxury shopping and classic Parisian charm. Very nice and comfortable hotel with a correct value for money. Check details, photos and availabilities for hotel Ekta here…

FAQ about hotels in Paris

What are standard check-in and check-out times in Paris?

Typical check-in is after 3 pm and check-out before 11 am. Early check-in/late check-out might incur fees.

What is the best between an hotel or an airbnb appartment in Paris?

There are plus and cons to both solutions. An hotel room is nice if you don’t want to bother with cooking and purchasing food. Airbnb is generally cheaper and good quality if you trust reviews (choose flats with many reviews and at least a few recent ones). But in rented flats, you may have some problems with noisy neighbours or other small nuisances that you won’t get in an hotel.

Are hotels expensive in Paris?

You have a very wide range of prices, from 50€ per night to several thousands in the finest palaces. Average price for a 3-stars hotel is between 80 and 120€. 4-stars range from 150 to 300€. But those prices may vary according to the season and the area. When there are huge professionnal trade shows in Paris, prices go up.

Do hotel rooms have aircon in Paris?

Yes, most hotel rooms have AC especially 3, 4 and 5 stars ones. You always have the info on the hotel’s web site anyway.
